About Us
Our Vision
Created for Community was established in order to create positive and lasting impacts on the lives of orphans, alleviate their suffering, and improve their quality of life through education. Additionally, we help widows achieve financial independence through programs and partnerships for economic independence.
Our Mission
To empower orphans through education and widows through programs and partnerships for economic independence. We aim to improve the lives of Congo's most vulnerable
Our Motivation
Growing up in the Congo, I have personal knowledge of the difficulties that orphans experience in a country that doesn’t have a system to support them. The school system served as a continuous anchor for my brothers and me while everything around us changed. Following the 1997 Congo War, attending school gave us a secure haven where we could have a sense of normalcy. Supporting children who are orphans has always been a goal because we understand that they are at risk of homelessness, violence, and abuse.
Our Challenges
Our biggest challenge remains to prevent child homelessness. We are constantly working towards finding solutions to ensure every child has a safe and secure place to call home. The kids we assist are orphans and live with guardians, either family members or women who have volunteered to care for them. These guardians are women who welcome the children into their homes, even though they have limited funds for themselves. Still, children could end up on the street as situations get more difficult. Our dedicated team in Kinshasa and Kivu works closely with guardians to ensure they have the necessary resources to provide for the children in their care. This includes access to education, healthcare, and necessities such as food and clothing.
